Ein Stromausfall in einem All-inclusive-Hotel; ein Wiedersehen am Rande einer Steppe; und ein an Sisyphos anmutender Kraftakt in den Strassen von Izmir. In drei Kurzgeschichten erzählt der Film von der inneren wie äußeren Überhitzung, Scham und Mühsal im Alltag einer tief gespaltenen Gesellschaft.

Deren Ercenk was born in Cologne in 1989. She studied at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne, where she graduated with the short film "Berzah." The film received the Jury Prize in the NRW Competition at the 66th International Short Film Festival Oberhausen in 2020 and was nominated for the German Short Film Award in the same year. "Berzah" was awarded the Grand Prize at the Tel Aviv Short Film Festival. Starting in June 2024, "Berzah" will be on display at the Kunsthaus NRW Kornelimünster art collection.
Deren Ercenk was the Chargesheimer Fellow for Media Art in 2020 and completed the "Atelier Galata" scholarship program in Istanbul. As part of the Chargesheimer Fellowship, she exhibited the video installation "Jeane, what happened?" at the artothek Cologne in 2021. Since 2021, she has been working on her debut feature film "Olympos" and on her second short film "Free Fall (AT)".
