Fragments—reworked, slowed down, put in loops—of Greek popular movies of the 50s and 60s, accompanied by poetry and Manos Hadjidakis’ piano. A found-footage audiovisual collage journeys into modern Greece and central Athens.

Maria Kourkouta
Maria Kourkouta is a Greek artist and film director, born in 1982 and living in Paris and Athens. She studied history and film theory, while at the same time she started experimenting with still images on 16mm film. After her short film Return to Aeolus Street (ARTE Prize for Best European Film at the Oberhausen Festival 2014), she co-directed, with Niki Giannari, the feature-length documentary Spectres are haunting Europe (Jury prize for Best international film at the Jihlava Festival 2016). In 2022, she worked with the editor Claire Atherton for her last short film Intermede.
